King Hamad Meets Pope Francis

19 May 2014 - His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, the King of Bahrain visited His Holiness Pope Francis in the Vatican’s Apostolic Palace on 19 May 2014. They had a 27-minute long meeting, in which they talked about peace in the Middle East and interfaith coexistence.

His Majesty presented the Pope with a 3 feet long model of the "largest church in the Arabian Peninsula," which is the present Our Lady of Arabia Cathedral, situated in Awali.

The Pope gifted the king, a medallion with the Angel of Peace as a symbol of peace and solidarity. At the end of the meeting, the Pope and the King had a meeting with the Cardinal Secretary of State Pietro Parolin.
